Example:
I decided to go bike riding
And didn't think it would cause harm
Until I lost my balance and fell
And then I broke my arm!

A Few Ideas For Using This Poem:
- Include a smiling photograph of the child wearing the cast.
- Taking a picture of the child's friends signing the cast would be a fun memory to include on the scrapbook page.
- Photograph a closeup view of at least one of the messages written or pictures drawn on the cast.
- Journal how the injury occured, how bad the break was, how you felt when you found out that your child had been hurt, how long the child needed to be in the cast and the color of the cast.
You might also want to list a few of the different activities that the child did while the cast healed (such as having friends over for board games or going to the movies instead of rollerblading or playing baseball, etc.)
- Ask your child to share 3-4 words or phrases that describe how he or she feels about wearing the cast (such as cute, itchy, boring, special, etc.) or a few key words/ phrases/ or thoughts of the child relating to his or her injury and then add them to the scrapbook page.
- Make a "Top 5 Reasons" pros and con's list of the good and bad things about having a cast. For example:
5 Best Things About Having A Cast 5 Worst Things About Having A Cast
I don't have to write out my homework I can't go swimming with my friends
Mom makes my bed now I can't tie my shoes
Everyone wants to sign my cast My arm sometimes hurts
Teachers at school are extra nice to me It wakes me up at night
The cast is my favorite color It is super-itchy!!!
