I Love You

A simple expression

Yet a powerful truth

Perhaps the words seem too simple

Just three words alone

Which carry the weight of meaning

That fills my heart

You wonder how I could love you

Not because you don't love me

And not because you don't hope for it

But because you are uncertain

Worrying about being enough

The reality is...

That it isn't about being 'enough'

For you, or for me

It's about what we make and feel

Together

When you look at me

My face lights up

Happy we are together

When you smile

My heart leaps

With joy that is ours

When you talk

I listen

It's a sharing of souls

When I feel weak

You show me strength

And we bond together

When you hold my hand

I am connected

Together...belonging

You share your dreams

And I share mine

'Til there is a melding

Of new dreams together

I feel the beauty

That lives within you

Because it makes my life more beautiful

You have touched my heart

Awakened my soul

And made me realize

The powerful truth of this love

You wonder how I could love you...

I wonder how I could not
